5 Elements of Happiness – SPIRE
I heard Tal Ben-Shahar speak at the #WBECS Summit yesterday. He described the 5 elements that make up happiness based on extensive research. These include spiritual, physical, intellectual, relational, and emotional elements that matter a great deal to our happiness. 🙏🏻Spiritual – can be our religiou
s beliefs or our ability to be mindful and present 🏃♀️Physical – can be about how we nourish our bodies with food, sleep, and exercise 🧠Intellectual – can be deep curiosity, learning or being engaged with nature 🫂Relational – can be about being kind, generous or being with people we genuinely care about 💞Emotional – can be about learning to deal with and manage painful emotions and also experience gratitude, joy and love.
Each of these elements can detract or enhance our happiness levels. Pay attention to how you’re fueling 🔥them. Leverage them to create a trickle effect or positive upward spiral. 🌀 Here’s one step you might take to enhance the emotional element using a great model for behaviour change. When I get in bed at night Instead of turning out the light right away I will spend 2 minutes writing about what I’m grateful for in my day.
