Leadership = Mastering Relationships and Performance

We need to evolve and elevate our leadership capabilities to meet the increasing complexity of our world today. 🪜+🧬


To do this, we need a balance between great relationships and task-oriented achievement. Combining these skills and getting really good at them, results in both leadership effectiveness AND high-level business performance. 🤝+ 📋


Research from The Leadership Circle demonstrates a strong connection between operating from creative competencies and leadership effectiveness versus operating with reactive competencies. These two areas can be defined this way:


Creative competencies - key leadership behaviours and internal assumptions that lead to high fulfillment and high achievement in leadership (e.g. relating, self-awareness, authenticity, systems awareness and achievement). Reactive strategies - self-limiting beliefs and assumptions that limit effectiveness, authentic expression, and empowering leadership (e.g. complying, protecting and controlling).


When we increase our ability to operate from a creative space with competencies in relating, self-awareness, authenticity, systems awareness and achievement, our leadership effectiveness improves. When we over-use reactive strategies like complying, protecting or controlling, we are less effective as leaders.


Extensive studies from the Positive Intelligence indicates that there are 5 key skills that are accessed from the creative side of our brain. 🔑

connecting the true essence of yourself and others.


🤔Curiosity - Approach challenges with a beginner’s mind, deep curiosity,

openness, awe, fascination, and wonder.


💡Innovation - Generate multiple ideas with creative approaches to fuel a cycle

of innovative thinking.


🧭Navigation - Sort out what truly matters by connecting to your deeper sense

of meaning, values, and purpose.


🎬Action - Move into action that is calm, clear and laser focussed in a way

that is both fierce and fearless.
